The Virginia State Police reported that the Big Stone Gap Fire Department responded to a call on East Spring Street South, where a house and woodworking shop were engulfed in flames. Tragically, the body of 57-year-old Jimmy C. Kennedy was discovered inside the woodshop. Authorities have stated that the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
Additionally, a fatal fire struck Grundy, Virginia, on Tuesday morning, resulting in another tragic loss of life. Emergency crews and police responded to the scene of the fire around 9:40 a.m. The fire was swiftly extinguished, but a body was found at the residence. The victim has not been identified pending notification of relatives. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office has taken charge of the investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
