Tragic Hit-and-Run in Marlboro, Orange County

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in Marlboro, Orange County, involving two pedestrians. The New York State Police are currently investigating the tragic accident that took the lives of two individuals on State Route 9W.

The Victims

The victims of this devastating incident were identified as Donna Cristallo, a 72-year-old woman from Kingston, and Stephen Celuch, a 75-year-old man also from Kingston. Cristallo was pushing Celuch in his wheelchair as they attempted to cross 9W when the accident occurred.

The Incident

According to reports, as the pair entered the southbound lane of traffic, a 2020 Kia Forte struck them, resulting in fatal injuries. Celuch was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while Cristallo was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police Investigation

The driver of the vehicle, who continued driving southbound on 9W, was apprehended by Newburgh Town Police on North Plank Road. The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the hit-and-run incident. Any witnesses or individuals with information are urged to contact the police at (845) 691-2922.
