The suspect, identified as Prakhar Upadhyay, 28, then sat next to his wife Vandana’s lifeless body all night before his father discovered her dead the next morning.

The couple, who had been married in 2021 and resided in the Shivaji Market area of Khujner, had been experiencing marital issues. Sources revealed that Prakhar, who is currently unemployed, has been struggling with mental health problems and often exhibits erratic behavior.

The shocking incident came to light when Prakhar’s father found Vandana’s lifeless body in their home. Despite the grim discovery, Prakhar continued with his daily routine, even going to work at a local hospital before eventually informing the police in the afternoon.

In a separate incident, a magisterial probe has been launched into the death of a man serving a 12-year life imprisonment sentence at Rewa Central Jail. The deceased, identified as Narendra Patel, 40, had been convicted in April 2012 for the murder of his wife and dowry harassment.

Narendra had been granted parole on January 17 and returned to the jail on February 1, reporting an injury he had sustained while outside. However, on the night of March 1, he complained of chest pain and was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.

Superintendent of Rewa Central Jail, SK Upadhyay, confirmed that the convict had been in good health following his injury but suddenly fell ill on the night of his death. The circumstances surrounding his demise are currently under investigation.
