Double Murder in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia

Police in Philadelphia are currently holding a suspect in connection with the recent double murder that shocked the city. The incident took place last Thursday night in Fairmount Park, a historic and scenic area known for its lush greenery and picturesque views.

Suspect in Custody

After sharing images of a suspect on Monday, authorities were able to take someone into custody a few hours later. However, as of Tuesday morning, no formal charges have been filed against the individual.

The Crime Scene

The gruesome discovery was made on Mount Pleasant Drive, near the Mount Pleasant Mansion, a historic site once owned by Benedict Arnold. The victims, 49-year-old Thurston Cooper and 38-year-old Krystina Chambers, were found lying together in a gully by the side of the road.

Police described the incident as an “execution-style” shooting, sending shockwaves through the community.

Heartbreaking Statements

Family members of Krystina Chambers, including her son Taye Evans and her mother Terri Chambers, spoke out about the tragedy. Taye expressed his desire for an end to senseless violence, while Terri hoped for peace for her daughter in the afterlife.

The Chambers family recounted their last moments with Krystina, grateful for the opportunity to speak with her before her untimely death.
