Man Arrested for Holding Woman Captive in Nashville Basement

A man in Nashville, Tennessee, has been arrested for allegedly keeping a woman captive in the basement of a home for three days. The incident took place on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when the woman visited the home to check on a friend, identified as 53-year-old Liddon Crutcher.

Agitated Encounter Leads to Captivity

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), during the visit, Crutcher became agitated and forced the woman into the basement of the home. The door to the basement was locked with a deadbolt, preventing the woman from leaving.

Attempted Escape and Violent Confrontation

When the woman was allowed to leave the basement, Crutcher would block the front door to prevent her from exiting the home. The victim was not allowed to eat or drink throughout the ordeal. On Friday, Crutcher allegedly entered the basement and threatened to kill the woman. A physical altercation ensued, during which Crutcher attempted to hit her with a hammer, but the hammer landed on her foot. He then ordered his dog to bite the woman, causing injury.

Escape and Call for Help

The victim was finally able to leave after waking other residents inside the home. She ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police. Crutcher was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest. He is currently held on a $75,000 bond at Metro Jail.
