Man Arrested for Holding Woman Captive in Nashville Basement

A man in Nashville has been taken into custody after allegedly holding a woman captive in the basement of a home for three days. The incident took place on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when the woman visited the home to check on a friend named Liddon Crutcher.

Agitated Behavior Leads to Captivity

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), during the visit, Crutcher became agitated and forced the woman into the basement of the home. The door to the basement was locked with a deadbolt, preventing her from leaving.

Desperate Attempt to Escape

Despite being allowed to leave the basement at times, the woman was met with resistance from Crutcher, who would block the front door and prevent her from exiting the home. She reported to officers that she was not allowed to eat or drink during the ordeal.

Threats of Violence

Things escalated on Friday when Crutcher allegedly threatened to kill the victim before attempting to hit her with a hammer. The hammer ended up injuring her foot during the altercation. Additionally, Crutcher ordered his dog to attack the woman, causing further harm.

Brave Escape

The victim managed to leave the home after waking up other residents inside the house and sought help from a neighbor, who then called the police. Crutcher was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest.

Legal Consequences

Crutcher is currently held in Metro Jail on a $75,000 bond, as records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office indicate. The arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting suspicious behavior and seeking help when in dangerous situations.
