A man has been arrested in Nashville after allegedly holding a woman captive in the basement of a home for three days. The incident took place on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when the woman visited the home to check on a friend, identified as 53-year-old Liddon Crutcher. The situation quickly escalated, with Crutcher becoming agitated and forcibly leading the woman into the basement, where he locked the door with a deadbolt.
Aggravated Assault and False Imprisonment Charges
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the woman was not allowed to leave the basement and was denied food and water throughout her ordeal. On Friday, the situation took a violent turn when Crutcher allegedly threatened to kill the victim and attempted to hit her in the head with a hammer. Fortunately, the hammer landed on her foot instead, but the victim was also bitten by Crutcher’s dog during the altercation.
After managing to escape the basement and run to a neighbor’s house to call the police, the victim was finally rescued from the harrowing situation. Crutcher was subsequently taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest.

Crutcher was booked into Metro Jail on Sunday and is currently being held on a $75,000 bond. Records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office indicate that he is facing serious charges related to the incident.
