Nigerian Commercial Bus Driver Arrested for Tragic Killing of 10-Year-Old Boy in Lagos State

A Nigerian commercial bus driver has been detained for the tragic killing of a 10-year-old boy identified as Chukwudi at the Iganmu-Mile 2 Expressway in Lagos State.

Reports indicate that the 69-year-old driver, known as Waidi Saheed, was apprehended following a fatal incident on Sunday morning. The young boy was crushed to death by the driver’s vehicle while he was standing on a culvert with his father near Doyin bus stop.

According to a police source, the driver, operating a Nissan Coastal commercial bus with registration number JJE-134 XK, was speeding at the time of the accident which resulted in the tragic death of the child.

Eye-witnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing experience, with one individual named Bernard mentioning that he was on his way to church with his children when the tragic incident occurred. The impact of the collision was so severe that the boy’s skull was shattered, resulting in instant death.

State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the sad event and stated that the boy’s remains had been taken to the Yaba General Hospital morgue for further procedures.

Hundeyin further revealed that both the driver and the vehicle involved in the accident were currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continued.

“The corpse has been taken to the morgue at the Yaba General Hospital. The driver was later arrested, and the accident vehicle is in police custody. The investigation is ongoing,” he remarked.
