Bulandshahr Tragedy: Three Siblings Lost, Three Missing After Van Falls Into Canal

Three siblings tragically lost their lives, and three others went missing in a heartbreaking incident that occurred in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. The van they were travelling in plunged into the Kapna canal in Jahangirpur area amidst heavy rainfall on Sunday night.

Details of the Incident

The ill-fated van was carrying a total of eight passengers, all of whom were on their way from Sherpur village in the Kakod police station area to Pisawa in Aligarh to attend a wedding. The District Magistrate, Chandra Prakash Singh, described the incident as “unfortunate” and expressed his condolences to the affected families.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar revealed that a PCR call was received late Sunday night alerting authorities about the van plunging into the canal. A Flood PAC team stationed nearby at a temple heard the sound of the accident and rushed to the scene. They managed to rescue two individuals from the canal and recovered the bodies of three victims.

Identification of the Deceased

The three individuals who lost their lives in the tragic incident have been identified as Kanta (22), Manish (21), and Anjali (18). All three were residents of Sherpur village in the Kakod police station area. Efforts are currently underway to locate the three missing passengers, with the assistance of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local divers, and volunteers.

Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Prashant Kumar Bharti confirmed that the victims were family members, adding to the emotional impact of the tragedy. Post-mortem examinations have been conducted on the bodies of the deceased to determine the cause of death.
