Tragic Incident In San Ramon Leads to Lawsuit

The city of San Ramon, located in California, was the site of a tragic incident nearly three years ago that has resulted in a lawsuit being filed by the family of late NFL coach Greg Knapp. Knapp, who was entering his 26th year coaching in the NFL, was fatally struck by a vehicle while bicycling in the city, leading to his untimely death at the age of 58.

Legal Proceedings

The lawsuit, filed in Contra Costa County Superior Court, alleges wrongful death against the city of San Ramon and the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. The driver, identified as Kevin Xu, was found to be distracted due to cellphone use at the time of the incident but was not criminally charged. Expanded Allegations

The family’s attorneys have expanded their allegations against not only the city and Xu but also against Faria Preserve LLC, Calatlantic Group Inc., and Lennar Corp. They argue that these parties were also responsible for the maintenance, operation, and safety of the roadway where the tragic incident took place.

The next court date for the lawsuit is a case management conference scheduled for this week. The legal proceedings surrounding this case have been ongoing since last year, with multiple parties involved in cross-complaints and answers to the amended complaints.
