Man Arrested in West Burlington for Possession of Meth and Heroin

A Burlington man found himself in hot water after being arrested by officers with the West Burlington Police Department for possession of methamphetamine and heroin. The incident took place in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Mt. Pleasant Street on February 29 at about 11:03 p.m.

Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Illegal Narcotics

During a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation, officers identified Cigi Bowman, a 34-year-old Burlington resident, as the driver. K9 Maverick was brought in to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle and quickly alerted officers to the presence of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and heroin, leading to Bowman’s immediate arrest. He was then taken to the Des Moines County Jail.

Charges and Preliminary Hearing

Bowman is facing serious charges, including possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense-methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of a controlled substance 3rd Offense- heroin, also a class D felony. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11, where he will have to answer to the allegations brought against him.
