Tragic Shooting Incident at High Meadows Park in Colorado Springs

Police in Colorado Springs have tragically identified the victims in the recent shooting at High Meadows Park as two teenagers. Regrettably, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.

According to authorities, following a distressing call reporting the shooting at the park near Peterson Road and North Carefree Circle last Wednesday, police received another call for assistance at a business near North Carefree and Powers. Reports indicated that two juvenile males had sustained gunshot wounds. Both boys were promptly transported to the hospital, but sadly, one of them passed away due to serious, life-threatening injuries.

The deceased teenager was a 17-year-old from Colorado Springs. Due to state law, the police have refrained from disclosing any further identifying information about the victim. The tragic loss of life is currently being investigated as a homicide.

The second victim, who thankfully survived, received medical treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently discharged from the hospital.

As of Monday, authorities have confirmed that a suspect remains at large in connection with the incident. They have stated, “This is not believed to be a random act of violence, and detectives are actively pursuing leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including potential suspect information.”
