A devastating incident occurred on Friday as a Carencro High School student, Jaylon Joiner, 18, was fatally shot while exiting a school bus, as confirmed by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department.

The tragedy unfolded just after 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Bradford Drive, where deputies rushed to the scene following a report of the shooting. Upon arrival, Joiner was found with a gunshot wound and was immediately transported to a local medical facility, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
