Riverside Nurse Accused of Sexual Assaulting Unconscious Patient

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A male nurse, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Hartman, has been accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious patient at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Riverside, California.

The incident was reported to the Riverside Police Department after a woman staying at the hospital in January 2024 came forward alleging that Hartman had sexually assaulted her while she was receiving treatment.

Following the investigation, Hartman was arrested on Wednesday, February 28 and has been charged with sexual battery of an unconscious person. He was subsequently released on $55,000 bail.

In response to the allegations, Kaiser Permanente issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to patient safety and quality care. The healthcare provider stated, “At Kaiser Permanente, safe and high-quality care are always our top priorities. As soon as we learned of this serious accusation, we immediately cooperated with law enforcement and started an internal investigation. At this time, the individual is no longer employed by Kaiser Permanente.”
