Man Arrested for DUI After Wrong-Way Crash in Lincoln, Rhode Island

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island State Police have reported the arrest of a man for driving under the influence (DUI) following a wrong-way crash in Lincoln on Friday night.

Details of the Incident

Shortly before 11 p.m., the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks received reports of a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on Route 146. The vehicle was headed south in the northbound lanes and was involved in a head-on collision.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the wrong-way driver was 38-year-old Carlos Gonzalez Carrillo from Cranston. He had crashed into another vehicle driven by a 28-year-old woman from Woonsocket.

The female driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Carlos Gonzalez Carrillo was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs. He was then taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing.
