In a shocking incident, an MTA conductor was attacked and slashed in the neck while leaning out of the window of a Brooklyn subway train, as reported by the NYPD.

The distressing event unfolded on Thursday around 3:30 a.m. on a southbound A train at the Rockaway Avenue Station in Brownsville.

The 59-year-old conductor, identified as Alton Scott, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he underwent emergency treatment, receiving 34 stitches for the severe wound.

The perpetrator, described as an adult male sporting a blue vest, made a swift escape from the station, according to law enforcement authorities.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the attack. Scott is a veteran with 24 years of service.

The NYPD has released new images of the individual suspected of fatally shooting 37-year-old bodega worker Nazim Berry in Brooklyn.

According to the NYPD, Berry was fatally shot in the head just after 4 p.m. inside a bodega on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights after reportedly declining to provide a complimentary cigar. He was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.

Berry, who resided in the neighbourhood with his grandmother, had been employed at the bodega for several years, his mother disclosed, mentioning that he had never been involved in any trouble.

She added that Berry had previously voiced grievances about individuals asking for complimentary items while at work.

The suspect is described as an individual with cornrow braids and a dark complexion, last seen sporting a black and white jacket, black sneakers, and black jeans.

Mayor Eric Adams has announced plans to deploy metal detectors at the migrant shelter on Randall’s Island in a bid to enhance security measures.

According to the NYPD, a 23-year-old migrant assailed a security guard, leading to a scuffle. Subsequently, at least two migrants were apprehended and charged, marking the third violent altercation to occur at this shelter within a few months.

On Tuesday, Adams reiterated his plea to the White House for expedited access to work permits for migrants.

Adams has also expressed intentions to reform the city’s sanctuary laws.

The three suspects implicated in the murder of an individual aboard a subway train in the Bronx last week have been apprehended and charged, as confirmed by the NYPD.

The suspects, identified as Justin Herde, 24, Betty Cotto, 38, and Alfredo Trinidad, 42, face charges of murder, manslaughter, and illegal possession of a weapon. Law enforcement officials managed to locate and detain the suspects on Monday just before noon at an apartment in the Bronx.

Police believe that the trio violently assaulted William Alvarez, 45, on a southbound D train on Friday shortly after 5 a.m. as it approached the 182-183 Streets station in the Fordham Heights area.

As the train neared the station, one of the suspects engaged in an argument with Alvarez, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with the other two suspects joining in. Tragically, a firearm was discharged during the altercation, resulting in Alvarez’s untimely demise.

Upon the train’s arrival at the station, the suspects fled the scene. Alvarez was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are attributing the successful apprehension of three individuals accused in a recent Bronx subway shooting to the presence of security cameras, as transit workers and commuters express concerns over a surge in subway-related crimes in NYC.

The NYPD and MTA have commended the arrest of two men and a woman following the shooting of Alvarez aboard a southbound D train at the 182-183 Streets station.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the suspects’ images were all captured clearly on surveillance cameras.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has pledged to deploy security cameras on every train and platform, a move that has been met with gratitude from investigators.

According to the NYPD, crime rates for January were 45% higher compared to the same period in 2023, with grand larceny identified as the primary contributing factor.
