Two Men Charged in Connection to Fatal Shooting in West Allis

Mastering Windows 10: Tips & Troubleshooting Guide.

Two men have been charged in connection to a tragic shooting that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man at an apartment complex in West Allis.

Details of the Incident

Noah Phillips tragically lost his life after being shot on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, in a parking lot near 64th and Lincoln, according to West Allis police and a criminal complaint.

The charges were filed against Alexzander Schlieve of Port Washington and Dawson Kurer of West Allis, both aged 25, in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.

Schlieve has been in police custody since Oct. 19, 2023, while Kurer has been in custody since Oct. 27, 2023, according to Wisconsin Department of Justice records.

Police Investigation

According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 18, around 11:16 a.m., West Allis police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 6406 W. Lincoln Ave.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered the body of Phillips in the parking lot of a multi-unit apartment complex. He was pronounced dead at 2:05 p.m., with an autopsy confirming his death as a homicide.

A witness living in the apartment building reported hearing gunshots and saw a white male subject next to a silver vehicle, pulling Phillips out of the car. The witness called 911 as the suspect fled the scene in the silver car.

Vehicle Linked to Suspects

On the same day of the homicide, a gray 2007 Buick Lucerne, which was identified as the vehicle driven by the suspects, was found burning near 1919 N. 33rd Street in Milwaukee.

Footage from a Milwaukee County Transit bus captured the Buick passing by the area just minutes before the shooting. The video showed two individuals in the Buick, one matching the description of Phillips and the other of Schlieve.

Arrests and Charges

Schlieve was arrested on Oct. 19 at an apartment building in Port Washington, where his girlfriend resides. His girlfriend informed the police that Phillips owed money for a car he had bought from Schlieve.

Phone records revealed regular contact between Schlieve and Kurer, who lived near the crime scene. Kurer, who initially denied involvement, was later found to have links to the crime through surveillance footage and phone records.

Prior Criminal Convictions

Schlieve, with prior criminal convictions, faces charges of first-degree reckless homicide with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. Kurer is charged with aiding a felon.

If convicted, Schlieve could face up to 75 years in prison, while Kurer could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
