Accident – Death – Obituary News : A group of adolescents made a chilling discovery in a Long Island park on Thursday, stumbling upon a severed arm that ultimately led authorities to the remains of two individuals that had been recently discarded, Suffolk County police have confirmed.

The group of teenagers were on their way to a nearby school around 8:40 a.m. on Thursday morning when one of the girls in the group spotted a severed left arm, later identified as belonging to a male victim, on the east end of Southards Pond Park in Babylon.

The student immediately alerted her father, who promptly contacted 911, initiating a thorough police investigation.

Upon searching Southards Pond Park, authorities uncovered a severed head and leg among the remains of a man and a woman. The man’s remains were discovered on the eastern end of the park, whilst the woman’s remains were found on the western side.

With the assistance of a cadaver dog, police were able to locate the female victim’s head, arm, and leg among a pile of leaves in the west end of the park. On the east side, the dog uncovered a right arm approximately 20 feet away from the initial discovery of the left arm, both of which bore tattoos and were linked to the male victim.

Detectives suspect that the bodies were recently dumped, possibly just “hours or a day or so” before their macabre discovery, a police department spokesperson informed The Daily Beast.

The remains were likely discarded by someone in a vehicle, indicating that the victims were likely murdered elsewhere before being deposited in the park.

The search for additional body parts continued into Friday morning. Authorities have not released any autopsy findings and have not provided any information regarding the possible identities of the victims.

The authorities are treating this gruesome find as a homicide.
