Man Arrested for Alleged Murder in Cleveland

In a major breakthrough, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has successfully arrested Steven Cole, 23, who was wanted for aggravated murder in Cleveland. The arrest comes after a nine-month-long search for the suspect, following the tragic shooting of 20-year-old Demetrius Williams in June 2023.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on June 19, 2023, when officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of gunshots fired on Kempton Avenue near East 102nd Street. Upon arrival, they found Williams with a gunshot wound to the neck. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Williams succumbed to his injuries.

According to U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott, the suspect allegedly approached Williams, who was in a car at the time, and fired multiple shots. Cole was later identified as the perpetrator of the deadly shooting, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.

Arrest at Beachwood Hotel

Authorities were able to track down and apprehend Cole at a Beachwood hotel on Friday. The swift action of law enforcement has brought a sense of relief to the community, knowing that a dangerous individual is now off the streets.
