Details of the Incident

The distressing incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when hospital staff alerted Phoenix police about a suspected case of child abuse. The child, who had ingested fentanyl and was treated with Narcan, was brought in by her mother, Allison Brown, who disclosed that she, her boyfriend, and five children had been residing at the American Inn.

According to court documents, Brown found a container filled with blue pills, later identified as fentanyl, in their hotel room around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. She confronted her boyfriend about the pills, leading to a confrontation. As the children played in the room, the toddler inadvertently came into contact with a plastic bag containing drugs, prompting Brown to instruct her to dispose of it. However, the child’s condition deteriorated, and her siblings raised the alarm.

In a panic, Brown attempted to help her daughter by clearing her airway and instructing the other children to call 911. During police questioning, Brown admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that day, while her boyfriend had been using meth throughout. Concerned about the smoke in the room from their drug use, Brown had taken the children outside.
