Man Pronounced Dead at Scene of Shelby County Accident
A tragic accident in Shelby County has left one man dead after his vehicle rolled over multiple times on County Road M16, south of 1300th Street. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Tuesday after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 2004 silver F250 on the east side of M16. It is believed that the truck veered off the road sometime on Monday evening. Investigators determined that the vehicle had partially left the roadway while travelling southbound on the west shoulder. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Brett Gubbels, attempted to correct the course of the truck and apply the brakes, but the vehicle ultimately crossed into the northbound lane and ended up in the east ditch, resulting in a series of rollovers.
Tragically, Gubbels was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, and further details are expected to be released in the coming days.
