Fatal pedestrian crash in Newburyport under investigation
Authorities in Newburyport, Massachusetts, are looking into a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a truck.
The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Green and Pleasant Streets, just across from City Hall. According to officials, a Ford pickup truck collided with a female pedestrian at the location.
The victim, identified as 81-year-old Helen Murgida of Newburyport, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead, as confirmed by the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
The driver of the F-150 remained at the scene following the collision. At this time, no charges or citations have been issued in connection with the incident.
