PORTSMOUTH — The tragic accident that claimed the life of a California woman on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth during Wednesday’s morning commute has left the community in shock. The victim, identified as Taesoon Hur, a 65-year-old from Buena Park, California, was involved in a rollover accident that resulted in a highway closure for approximately three hours, causing traffic chaos and lengthy backups along multiple exits.

Details of the Accident
According to New Hampshire State Police, the driver of the vehicle, a Genesis G70, was identified as Byung Moo Hur, a 38-year-old from Saugus, Massachusetts. It remains unclear at this point whether the two individuals are related. The accident occurred as the vehicle was heading north on Interstate 95 when Byung Moo Hur lost control, causing the car to swerve off the pavement and into the grassy median. The vehicle then collided with a large light pole, leading to Taesoon Hur being ejected from the car.
Outcome of the Accident
Tragically, Taesoon Hur was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Byung Moo Hur sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment. As of now, an update on Byung Moo Hur’s condition has not been provided by state police. The investigation into the fatal crash, which occurred around 8 a.m. just south of Exit 3B, is still ongoing.
