Terrorist Gunman Who Killed Two Israelis in Samaria Attack Identified as Palestinian Authority Police Officer

By World Israel News Staff

One of the Palestinian Arab terrorists involved in the deadly shooting attack near an Israeli town in Samaria on Thursday has been revealed to be a member of the Palestinian Authority’s Palestinian Preventive Security (PPS) force.

The tragic incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when two armed Palestinian terrorists with M-16 assault rifles opened fire on Israelis at a gas station on Route 60, close to the town of Eli in Samaria. The attack resulted in the loss of two lives, including 57-year-old ZAKA volunteer and Shavi Shomron resident Yitzhak Zeiger.

Responding swiftly to the situation, IDF reservist Aviad Gizbar, who owns the Hummus Eliyahu shop adjacent to the gas station, managed to neutralize one of the terrorists, while the other was shot and injured.

The slain terrorist has now been identified as Muhammad Manasra, a resident of Qalandiya, a Palestinian Authority-controlled town near Jerusalem. Shockingly, Manasra had a background as an officer in the Palestinian Preventative Security force and was affiliated with the ruling Fatah party, a key faction within the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Prior to the fatal attack, Manasra had a troubling history that included two separate imprisonments in Israel for terrorism-related charges. After serving time for illegal weapons-related offenses, he was released from Ofer prison in 2019.
