Details about the case against Trade Genco are slowly starting to circulate among young women like Mindy Bettiaco. It could have been you, see? It could have been any other surrounding schools, and that’s really scary. Federal agencies have been investigating the situation. Genco is part of an underground movement called Incel, which stands for Involuntary Celibate. This movement is comprised mostly of men who resent women for not showing romantic interest in them. The feds say Genco took his resentment to a dangerous level by planning to quote “slaughter women at a college in Ohio.” Core documents indicate that students at Ohio State may have been in danger. As a graduate of Ohio State, it just makes me really glad that the feds are paying attention to protect students.

Heartbreaking Testimonies

This woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous due to the nature of the charges, which include an attempted hate crime and unlawful possession of a machine gun, shared her thoughts on the situation. “It makes me want to cry thinking about what might have happened.” Her boyfriend, who also asked not to show his face, expressed his disbelief at the Incel movement. “I think it’s very unnerving because you know, I have cousins, a mom, and friends who are women, and it’s very unnerving to know that there are guys out there like this.”

During today’s detention hearing, Genco’s attorney argued that his client should be released to the custody of his mother who lives in Hillsboro. The attorney pointed out that Genco was already serving a state prison sentence based on similar evidence. However, the prosecutor pushed back, stating that Genco is too patient and methodical to be sent back to the home where he allegedly hatched the plan to kill up to 3,000 women. In the end, after today’s hearing, Judge Stephanie Bowman agreed with prosecutors who are steadfast in their belief that Genco presents an imminent danger to the community.

The Sentencing of Tres Genco

A Highland County man, Tres Genco, who was accused of attempting to conduct a mass shooting of women at a university in Ohio, has been sentenced to prison. Genco, 24, admitted he plotted to commit a hate crime, planning to shoot women at a university in Ohio. Genco was arrested by federal agents in July 2021 and has remained in custody since. Genco was identified as an Incel or “involuntary celibate,” according to investigators. On Thursday, Genco was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty in October 2022 to one count of attempting to commit a hate crime.
