Man Sets Himself Ablaze in Ludhiana Home

In a tragic incident that shook the residents of Joshi Nagar in Ludhiana, a 45-year-old man, identified as Manoj Kumar Gupta, allegedly set himself ablaze in his home on Tuesday night. The man, who was living alone in a house in the area, reportedly set himself on fire around 11.30 pm.

Manoj Kumar Gupta, who had taken premature retirement from his job at the Punjab irrigation department a few years ago, was known to be living alone and unmarried. According to his sisters, he was mentally unstable.

Inspector Bittan Kumar, the Station House Officer at Haibowal police station, stated that no suicide note was found at the scene. Based on statements from the deceased’s sisters, the police have initiated proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC.
