Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman from Uttar Pradesh has reportedly caused quite a stir by marrying her sister’s husband at a mass wedding ceremony in Jhansi. The woman, identified as Khushi, decided to stage the marriage after the man she was originally supposed to marry failed to show up at the wedding venue. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Khushi went ahead with the mass wedding ritual, with her brother-in-law standing in as her ‘husband’.

The mass wedding, which took place on Tuesday, saw a total of 132 couples tying the knot. However, Khushi’s actions were not motivated by romance, but rather by a desire to benefit from the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage scheme. Under this scheme, couples receive a sum of Rs. 51,000, with Rs. 35,000 being deposited into the bride’s bank account, Rs. 10,000 allocated for gifts, and Rs. 6,000 for ceremony expenses.

Following the revelation of Khushi’s unconventional marriage, District Social Welfare Officer Lalita Yadav has ordered a probe into the matter. It has been reported that all gifts and materials provided to Khushi’s family as part of the scheme have been reclaimed. Yadav noted that while Aadhaar cards and other details are typically verified before weddings under the scheme, a lapse occurred in this instance.

This incident is not an isolated one in Uttar Pradesh, where individuals have been known to fake marriages in order to exploit government schemes. Just recently, a video circulated on social media showing a mass wedding where numerous ‘brides’ were seen garlanding themselves in the absence of grooms. An investigation later revealed that at least 200 couples at the event were paid to pose as brides and grooms by certain officials, in an attempt to siphon funds meant for genuine beneficiaries.

The mass wedding in UP has raised questions about the effectiveness of the government’s schemes and the need for greater vigilance in verifying the authenticity of participants. As authorities continue to investigate these cases, it is clear that stricter measures are required to prevent such fraudulent activities and ensure that benefits reach those who truly deserve them..
