Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (FOX5/Gray News) – In a tragic turn of events, the drivers involved in a fatal racing-related crash in Las Vegas have been identified as siblings, according to an arrest report.

The incident, which took place on Feb. 21 at 1:41 a.m. on East Silverado Ranch Boulevard near Bermuda Road, saw an orange 2022 Chevrolet Camaro and a maroon 2023 Mazda MX5 speeding down the road. The collision resulted in both vehicles spinning out of control, with the Camaro hitting a retaining wall and the Mazda crashing into a light pole and tree.
Tragically, the passenger in the Mazda, identified as 24-year-old Jessica Dettlaff, was unable to escape the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister, 26-year-old Melissa Dettlaff, who was driving the Mazda, sustained injuries and was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment.
Jonathan Gallagher, the driver of the Camaro, was also injured in the crash and was transported to University Medical Center. Despite passing a sobriety test, Gallagher was found to have been at a local bar, Distill Bar, prior to the collision.
Both Melissa Dettlaff and Gallagher have been charged with reckless driving resulting in death or bodily harm and participating in a speed contest. Additionally, Melissa Dettlaff may face DUI charges pending the results of blood tests.

Gallagher posted bail shortly after the incident and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27. Melissa Dettlaff, on the other hand, was released on electronic monitoring and has been prohibited from driving. Her court date is set for March 26.
