Accident – Death – Obituary News : VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Tragedy struck the Rincon Indian Reservation on Friday afternoon as the victim of a shooting incident has tragically passed away. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the suspect in the case is now facing a murder charge following the death of the victim.

The incident unfolded last Friday when deputies responded to a shooting in the 7500 block of Mendoza Road on the reservation at around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 46-year-old Jason Gillespie with multiple gunshot wounds. Gillespie was swiftly airlifted to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Valley Center resident Kyle Del Gregory, was apprehended at the scene of the crime. Law enforcement officers also recovered a rifle believed to be linked to the shooting.

Del Gregory was promptly taken into custody and booked into the Vista Detention Facility, where he is currently being held without bail. Sadly, on Monday evening, Jason Gillespie succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Initial charges against Del Gregory included attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. However, following Gillespie’s death, detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit have elevated the charges to include murder.
