FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Suspected Chop Shop in Fresno County Leads to Recovery of 11 Stolen Vehicles and 10 Arrests

Authorities in Fresno County have announced a major breakthrough in the fight against auto theft, with the recovery of 11 stolen vehicles from a suspected chop shop. The operation also resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Discovery and Investigation

The incident unfolded on February 21, when investigators from the Fresno County Help Eliminate Auto Theft Taskforce (H.E.A.T) tracked a stolen 2009 GMC Yukon to a rural property on Hayes Avenue. With the assistance of aerial support from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, ground units moved in and apprehended the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Emilio Orozco, along with nine others present on the property.

Vehicle Recovery

During a thorough search of the premises, law enforcement officials discovered over 40 vehicles in various stages of disrepair. Further checks revealed that 10 of these vehicles had been reported stolen. The recovered vehicles have been impounded as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Legal Actions

Emilio Orozco was taken into custody and booked at the Fresno County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property, and violating the terms of his probation. The other individuals detained at the scene are also facing charges related to the stolen vehicles found on the property.
