Man Poses as Girl on Snapchat, Blackmails Minor for Objectionable Pics
New Delhi, 29th February (IANS) – A 27-year-old man has been apprehended in Uttarakhand for allegedly pretending to be a girl on Snapchat and coercing a minor girl into sharing explicit images, as reported by a Delhi Police official on Thursday.
The suspect, identified as Subhan Ali from Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, is accused of impersonating a female to manipulate and blackmail the victim into sharing lewd photos on the popular social media platform, Snapchat.

According to police reports, the case came to light on February 20 when the minor girl’s father filed a complaint regarding the harassment and blackmail of his daughter. The complainant revealed that his daughter, a school student, had been using her smartphone for online classes. Upon inspecting her phone, the girl’s mother discovered explicit videos and images shared via Snapchat, prompting the family to report the incident.
An investigation revealed that the perpetrator engaged the victim in conversations on Snapchat, initially pretending to be a girl. He initiated a game of ‘Truth and Dare,’ daring the victim to engage in inappropriate behavior. Falling into his trap, the victim shared nude photos and videos, which the accused then used to further manipulate her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena stated, “The accused coerced the victim into continuing the chats and obeying his commands under threat of consequences.”
Following the filing of a case under section 354 D of the IPC and 12 POCSO Act, authorities conducted a thorough investigation, obtaining crucial leads from Snapchat and Google. Through technical analysis, a mobile number linked to the suspect was traced to Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand.
“Raids were conducted on potential locations of the accused in Udham Singh Nagar on February 24, leading to his arrest,” revealed the DCP.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime, with a smartphone used in the offence recovered from his possession.
