Tragic Incident at Seabright State Beach

Last week, a devastating incident occurred at Seabright State Beach in Santa Cruz, where a 21-year-old woman lost her life due to strangulation. The victim, identified as Zainab Mansoor, was a resident of San Bruno and also a student at UC Santa Cruz at the time of her death.
Suspect Identified
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as Samuel Stone, Mansoor’s 20-year-old boyfriend. Stone, who was also a former UCSC student, was set to be arraigned on murder charges related to Mansoor’s death. However, the hearing has been delayed until March 13.

According to reports, Stone allegedly called 911 in the early hours of February 23 to report that he had strangled his girlfriend on the beach. The incident took place in the serene surroundings of Seabright State Beach, turning a peaceful location into a scene of horror.
University Connection
Both Mansoor and Stone were students at UC Santa Cruz, further adding to the shock and disbelief surrounding the tragic event. University officials confirmed Mansoor’s enrollment at the university, while Stone had been a student until January 10.
Legal Proceedings
As of now, Samuel Stone remains in custody without bail, awaiting his delayed arraignment in Santa Cruz County Superior Court. The community and authorities are grappling with the aftermath of this senseless tragedy, seeking justice for the victim and closure for her loved ones.
