Among the victims of this horrific incident, Victor Hernandez, aged 30, has been identified.

Initial investigations revealed that a GMC van, carrying eight individuals en route to farm-related work in the Firebaugh area, collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Avenue 7 west of Road 22 in a remote area of Madera County, according to the CHP.

Tragically, seven occupants of the van, all residents of Kerman, lost their lives in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet also succumbed to their injuries.

Another male occupant of the van sustained major injuries and was transported to the hospital, with expectations of recovery.

The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into this heart-wrenching tragedy.

NECESSITY OF CRASH INVESTIGATION

Every year, an estimated 36,000 individuals perish – and an additional 1.9 million sustain injuries – in motor vehicle accidents across the nation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding ranked as the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by alcohol, drug, or medication impairment; failure to maintain the correct lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

Although the cause and liability of the crash are under scrutiny, Candice Bond, a seasoned accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation conducted by a skilled attorney.

“In addition to the diligent efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview crucial witnesses, scrutinize any surveillance footage from the crash scene, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” stated Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.

“Time sensitivity is critical in cases of this nature, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed promptly.”

CLAIM FOR WRONGFUL DEATH

Pending the investigation, family members of Victor Hernandez may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic incident.

“We acknowledge that the loss of a loved one represents not only a profound emotional setback but also a financial one,” expressed Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If you have lost a loved one due to another individual’s negligence, seek the counsel of a wrongful death attorney to obtain the justice you deserve.”

“Insurance companies may attempt to capitalize on your lack of legal knowledge by proposing a minimal settlement or rejecting your claim outright. An attorney can safeguard your rights and ensure that you are not exploited.”
