McLean County Coroner identifies individual killed in police shooting on Interstate 55 near Lexington

The McLean County Coroner has officially named the individual who tragically lost their life in the officer-involved shooting incident that took place on Saturday on Interstate 55 near Lexington.

The McLean County Coroner, Dr. Kathy Yoder, has identified the deceased as Trayvon Little, aged 37, hailing from Springfield. Trayvon Little was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Initial findings from the autopsy conducted on Trayvon Little reveal that the cause of death was attributed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Reports indicate that Illinois State Police (ISP) troopers were summoned to the location following reports of gunfire at 12:42 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered two vehicles parked on the roadside of Interstate 55 near Lexington. Subsequently, they noticed an individual firing shots at the other vehicle, following which the said individual turned the firearm towards the officers.

As a result of the ensuing exchange of gunfire between the officers and the individual, Trayvon Little met his untimely demise. Thankfully, there were no other injuries reported, and investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
