Delhi: In the early hours of the morning in north Delhi’s Burari area, a tragic incident unfolded as a Nigerian national, identified as Christian Ifeanyichukwu, and another individual lost their lives in a house fire, as confirmed by police reports on Tuesday. The identity of the second victim has not been disclosed.

The devastating incident took place on the night spanning the 23rd and 24th of February. Initially, two individuals sustained injuries in the blast, but no emergency services were alerted. They were reportedly taken to Uttam Nagar by their acquaintances, before being transferred to AIIMS for medical attention. This sequence of events has sparked suspicions of potential illicit drug-related activities.

Upon thorough investigation, it was revealed that the victims were admitted to AIIMS by a group purporting to be their friends. However, these individuals vanished after dropping them off at the hospital. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, both victims tragically succumbed to their injuries.

Law enforcement authorities have launched an inquiry under sections 287/304A in response to the tragic incident. Additionally, a forensic examination of the premises was conducted, and various pieces of evidence, including chemical substances and laboratory equipment, were seized for further analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

This disheartening turn of events underscores the critical need for a meticulous investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the untimely deaths and any potential unlawful undertakings linked to the tragedy.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Prakash Gaikwad disclosed that around 4:30 in the morning, a fire broke out in Azad Nagar. The blaze originated from a heap of refuse that had been dumped nearby. Gaikwad assured that the fire is currently under control and is anticipated to be fully extinguished within the next 1-2 hours. Regrettably, one individual lost their life in the fire, with two Mahanagar Palika Fire Brigade personnel and 2-3 others sustaining injuries, as reported by news agency ANI.
