A 34-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being thrown from his bike, along with his two young sons, when his speeding vehicle collided with an unmarked speed bump, causing him to collide with an electricity pole at the edge of the road.

The harrowing road accident occurred at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Sarvamangala Nagar, Second Main Road, Chitlapakkam, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Tambaram Corporation. The deceased has been identified as C. Govindaraju, a 34-year-old resident originally from Thalaivasal Taluk, Salem district. Govindaraju had been residing with his family in MGR Nagar, Chitlapakkam, for the past decade and was employed as a skilled mason.

On the fateful evening, Govindaraju was accompanied by his two sons, Karuppusamy, aged 14, and Sridharan, aged 8, who were riding pillion on his motorcycle as they set out to purchase diesel for his work. Surveillance footage reveals that he was travelling at a high speed when his motorcycle hit an unmarked speed bump on the road, causing him to be ejected from his vehicle upon impact with an electricity pole located on the roadside before crashing to the ground. Tragically, Govindaraju succumbed to fatal head injuries at the scene, while his two sons sustained minor injuries. Prompt action by concerned neighbours led to their swift rescue, according to police sources.
