Six individuals have been apprehended in Pune district for their alleged involvement in the production and distribution of counterfeit ₹500 currency notes. The authorities have seized a total of 440 fake notes, amounting to over ₹2 lakh in value.
Identification of the Accused
The suspects have been identified as Ritik Khadse, Suraj Yadav, Akash Dhangekar, Suyog Salunkhe, Tejas Ballal, and Pravan Gahvane. They were taken into custody by the Dehu Road police station of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police in Pune district.
Police Operation
Assistant Police Commissioner Devidas Kashinath Ghevre disclosed that the arrests were made following a tip-off from reliable sources. The police set up a trap in the Dehu Road area and detained an individual who was expected to arrive with counterfeit notes.
Upon searching the suspect, the officials discovered 140 fake ₹500 notes in his possession. Subsequent interrogation led to the revelation that the notes were being manufactured in a commercial establishment in the Bhosari area using an offset printing machine.

Seizure of Counterfeit Material
A police team swiftly moved to the identified location and found an offset printing machine, printing ink, and other materials used in the production of counterfeit currency. Additionally, they recovered special papers utilized for printing fake notes, as well as partially and fully printed counterfeit notes.
Legal Action
As a result of the operation, all six suspects have been taken into police custody. They have been charged under Sections 489(c) (possession of forged or counterfeit currency notes or bank notes) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Dehu Road police station.
