Man identified in Fatal Shooting in Akron
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Akron as 47-year-old Patrick Boergert from Barberton.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, the shooting took place on Friday evening in the 1300 block of South Arlington Street. Boergert was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body and was rushed to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Arrest Made in Connection with the Shooting
Following the incident, Akron police arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with the shooting on Wilbeth Road. The suspect was apprehended at a residence on South Arlington Street and has been charged with aggravated assault.
Remembering Patrick Boergert
Boergert, originally from Cleveland, had been living in the Akron area for the past five years. Described as a dedicated volunteer at his local church and a lover of singing, he leaves behind a legacy of three daughters, three sons, seven grandchildren, two siblings, and his mother.
