Sergeant Gary Lawson sprang into action when he spotted the struggling woman in the river. He wasted no time in removing his gear and plunging into the water to reach her. Another deputy, Anthony Powers, quickly retrieved a life vest from his patrol car and threw it to Sergeant Lawson to ensure his safety in the turbulent waters.

The woman, later identified as Lacey Mosher, put up a fierce fight as Sergeant Lawson tried to rescue her. Despite her resistance, he managed to reach her and bring her to safety.
