Investigation Underway Following Multiple Vehicle Thefts in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Authorities in Cambridge are currently conducting an investigation into a series of vehicle thefts that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The incident unfolded shortly after midnight when law enforcement officers responded to a call from the 100 block of Baycraft Court regarding suspicious individuals on a property. Surveillance footage revealed the presence of approximately five juvenile suspects on the premises. Upon being confronted by the property owner, two of the suspects were caught attempting to break into a vehicle by tampering with the door handles. The suspects fled in different directions after being confronted.
Following the initial incident, officers embarked on a citywide search and spotted four vehicles speeding north in the 5200 block of Woods Road just after 1:30 a.m. The vehicles, identified as a light blue Chrysler Town and Country van, a green GMC Sierra truck, a white work van, and a dark-colored Volvo, split up as they approached a traffic circle on Woods Road at Route 16. Pursuing two of the vehicles, officers managed to intercept the work van on Maces Lane at Washington Street, where a 15-year-old male suspect was apprehended. It was later discovered that the van had been reported stolen from the 100 block of Oyster Catcher Court.
The juvenile suspect was subsequently released to a guardian and referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on charges of motor vehicle theft, multiple traffic violations, and curfew violation.
Further incidents were reported in the early hours of the morning, including the theft of two additional vehicles from the 2600 block of Lance Drive – the light blue Chrysler Town and Country and the green GMC Sierra. At around 7:50 a.m., law enforcement responded to a report of a stolen dark-colored Volvo from the 200 block of Regulator Drive. Surveillance footage captured four individuals tampering with vehicles in the area.
In a related development, officers received multiple reports of vehicle damages and break-ins in various neighborhoods across the city. Authorities noted that in all instances, the vehicles had been left unlocked with keys inside.
Cambridge Police have indicated that additional arrests and charges are pending in connection with the ongoing investigation.
