Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash in New Madrid County

SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) – A tragic incident unfolded in New Madrid County on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of one man and injuring another in a two-vehicle collision.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Reports revealed that the fatal crash took place at approximately 9:11 a.m. on February 28 along U.S. Highway 60, just one mile west of Sikeston.

The collision occurred when a 2014 Ford Fiesta, driven by 39-year-old Jerry L. Jones of Puxico, entered the path of a 2018 GMC Sierra.

Tragically, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle at 10:05 a.m. His body was later transported to Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, identified as 65-year-old Harold J. Crail of Scott City, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. He was promptly taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for medical treatment.

It was reported by the MSHP that Crail was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, whereas Jones was not wearing any safety equipment.
