Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama has made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred in September. Daysha Nicole Bennett, aged 35, has been charged with the intentional murder of 51-year-old Anthony Dewain Word. Investigators have revealed that the two individuals were acquaintances.

The tragic incident took place on September 10, 2023, when deputies responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 3 p.m. on Dewey Heights Road in northeast Jefferson County. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered Anthony Dewain Word lying in the driveway of a residence. He had sustained gunshot wounds and tragically succumbed to his injuries on-site.
Following an extensive investigation into the homicide, Daysha Nicole Bennett was identified as the primary suspect in the case. She has since been detained at the Jefferson County Jail without the option of posting bond.
