18-Year-Old Arrested After Pointing Gun at Man in Chicago Ridge Mall

An 18-year-old man, identified as Cesar Cortez Rosales from Chicago, was apprehended by police after allegedly pointing a gun at another man in the Chicago Ridge Mall. Rosales now faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon following the incident.

Incident Details

The incident took place around 3 p.m. on Tuesday when Chicago Ridge police received a call about a man brandishing a firearm at the intersection of 87th Street and Southwest Highway. The caller reported that they had been threatened by an individual wearing a black ski mask who pointed a gun at them. The suspect, along with three others, then fled in a vehicle heading south on Southwest Highway towards the mall.

Upon arriving at the Chicago Ridge Mall, law enforcement officers were informed that the suspects had entered through the Buffalo Wild Wings entrance. The officers located the group inside the mall and proceeded to conduct a pat-down search. It was during this search that Rosales, who was wearing the ski mask, made a run for it through the mall.

Arrest and Recovery

Rosales was eventually apprehended by assisting officers after a foot chase through the mall. Upon his arrest, a loaded 9MM handgun with 17 rounds was found hidden in his waistband, along with a bag of cannabis.

Legal Proceedings

The Cook County State’s Attorney has approved felony charges against Rosales. He is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday.
