Violent Altercation at Springtown Park Leads to Teen’s Arrest

SPRINGTOWN, Texas — A violent altercation took place at Springtown Park on Monday, resulting in the arrest of 17-year-old Trevor Michael Hettinger, who is accused of stabbing a 15-year-old boy.

Details of the Incident

Around 3 p.m. on February 26, 2024, Springtown Police officers responded to a reported fight at the park. Upon arrival, they discovered a 15-year-old male with two stab wounds, one in his right ear and neck and another in his lower back. The victim was rushed to a Fort Worth hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Police Response

Witnesses at the scene pointed out Hettinger, who had fled towards Springtown Elementary School. A police officer pursued and detained Hettinger, who was later confirmed as the suspect in the stabbing. The school was promptly informed of the incident to ensure the safety of the students.

Further Investigation

According to witness statements, the victim and Hettinger had arranged to meet at the park for a physical altercation, which was organised through text messages. Hettinger allegedly stabbed the victim twice before the victim managed to disarm him and escape to another part of the park.

Legal Actions

After being medically cleared at a Weatherford hospital, Hettinger was taken to the Parker County Jail. He is currently held on a $17,000 bond and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and evading arrest/detention, a Class A misdemeanor. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and additional charges may be brought against Hettinger.
