Police have arrested a suspect connected to the death of a man who died after he was pepper-sprayed during an argument on a Metro bus in Koreatown last week. The incident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 22 at around 10:50 p.m. at the intersection of Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard. LAPD West Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person pictured who was involved in the Metro bus death.
Two men were involved in an argument on the bus, during which the suspect pepper-sprayed the victim and then fled the scene. The suspect, identified as Trayvon Isiah Willingham, was arrested in the 3300 block of Long Beach Boulevard by LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division/FBI Fugitive Task Force. Willingham has been booked for murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
The victim, identified as 62-year-old Darryl Winborn, died at the scene. Video surveillance from the incident showed police gathering evidence from the fight that occurred on the bus.
