Three Arrested in Grimes County Drug Bust

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office have announced the arrest of three individuals following a thorough and extensive investigation into drug trafficking in the area.

The suspects, identified as Rusell Reed, Helen McClanahand, and Kevin Biddle, are facing a range of drug-related charges following the discovery of a significant amount of illicit substances being sold and distributed within the community.

According to a statement released by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the joint investigation led by Special Agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator uncovered a network involved in the sale and distribution of methamphetamine.

The first arrest took place on February 22 when Grimes County deputies conducted a traffic stop on FM 244 near Trinity Avenue, resulting in the apprehension of Russel Reed. Reed was found in possession of 45 grams of methamphetamine and Ziploc baggies, leading to his arrest for Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Subsequent investigations linked the illicit substances to the residence of Kevin Biddle and Helen McClanahand.

On February 26, Troopers and Special Agents intercepted a vehicle driven by Kevin Biddle for expired registration. Biddle attempted to evade authorities and during a pursuit, discarded a significant amount of pre-packaged methamphetamine. Following his arrest, a search of the vehicle revealed a substance testing positive for cocaine and fentanyl.

A search warrant was then executed at Biddle’s residence where additional methamphetamine was recovered, and Helen McClanahand was taken into custody.

Kevin Biddle is facing multiple charges including Evading, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, while Helen McClanahand has been charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office reported the seizure of the following items:

NARCOTICS SEIZED

  • 405 Grams of liquid cocaine and fentanyl
  • 445 Grams of methamphetamine
  • Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB)
  • 1.16 Ounces of marijuana
  • Currency: £2326.91

The successful operation conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office highlights the agencies’ commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
