Dr. Walburger was the president and owner of Choice Dental Group, a prominent dental practice with three clinics in southern Alberta: Lethbridge Dental Services South, Crossings Dental, and Medicine Hat Dental.

In a heartfelt statement released by Choice Dental Group on Tuesday, the company expressed their profound sadness at the sudden loss of Dr. Walburger, highlighting his exceptional skills as a dentist and his unwavering commitment to providing the highest standard of care to his patients.

Described as a family man above all else, Dr. Walburger was a devoted husband and father of three, whose love and dedication to his family served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

“His commitment to his role as a loving husband and father served as an inspiration to us all.”

Not only a boss but also a friend, Dr. Walburger’s kindness, wisdom, and genuine care touched everyone around him, creating a sense of unity and belonging that will be cherished forever.

The tragic avalanche that claimed Dr. Walburger’s life was a Size 3 avalanche triggered at the head of Gardiner Creek in Castle Wildland Provincial Park, according to Avalanche Canada.

The incident occurred while a group of people were snowmobiling in a back-country area near Castle Mountain Resort. Two individuals were caught in the avalanche, with one managing to escape while Dr. Walburger was buried under the snow.

Despite the group’s efforts to conduct a companion rescue search, they were unable to locate Dr. Walburger in time. Search and Rescue teams located his body the following day, confirming his tragic passing.

Dr. Scott Walburger’s legacy as a compassionate dentist, dedicated family man, and valued community member will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
