Following a heart-wrenching series of events, New South Wales police have made a grim discovery in Bungonia. The bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, the missing Sydney couple, were found after days of intense investigation. This shocking development has sent shockwaves through Sydney and Australia as a whole.

The Start of the Tragedy

The chain of events began on Friday 16 February when Sen Const Beau Lamarre allegedly took a force-issued handgun from storage at the Miranda police station in south Sydney. Lamarre signed out the gun for a supposed “protest activity” on Sunday 18 February, although it remains unclear if he actually participated in the event.

The situation took a darker turn on Monday 19 February when neighbours reported hearing gunshots at Baird’s home in Paddington. An emergency call was made from Davies’ phone, but it was abruptly terminated before connecting to an operator. Later that evening, Lamarre allegedly hired a white Toyota HiAce van from Sydney airport.

The Disturbing Details Unfold

By Tuesday 20 February, Lamarre had allegedly made “partial admissions” about the killings to an acquaintance. Police claim that Lamarre drove the hired van to Cronulla and disposed of personal items belonging to Baird and Davies.

As the investigation progressed, bloodied clothing and personal items were found in a skip bin in Cronulla on Wednesday 21 February, prompting the launch of a missing person investigation. Later that day, a significant amount of blood was discovered at Baird’s home in Paddington, adding to the growing concern.

The Chilling Events Unfold

On Wednesday, Lamarre and an acquaintance visited a property in Bungonia near Goulburn, where they purchased items from a hardware store and accessed the property. Lamarre’s actions raised suspicion, leading to further investigations into his involvement in the disappearance of Baird and Davies.

Thursday 22 February saw Lamarre leaving the Bungonia area in the hired van, making his way to Newcastle. At a home in Newcastle, Lamarre requested access to a hose to clean the van, raising more questions about his activities.

The Arrest and Investigation

By Friday 23 February, Lamarre had turned himself in at Bondi police station, where he was charged with two counts of murder. The subsequent court appearance shed light on the disturbing events that had unfolded over the past week.

As the investigation continued, police searched waterways in Lambton on Saturday 24 February, expanding their efforts to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of Baird and Davies.

The Heartbreaking Conclusion

On Tuesday 27 February, detectives interviewed Lamarre at Silverwater jail, where he was on remand. Human remains were discovered in Bungonia, leading investigators to establish a crime scene at a second property in the area. Police commissioner Karen Webb confirmed the devastating news, stating that they had located the bodies of Luke and Jesse with the assistance of the accused.
