A man is currently being sought by deputies in Clallam County for a string of burglaries that occurred in Port Angeles. The suspect, identified as James Kingsland, 46, of Port Hadlock, is wanted for breaking into an animal shelter, stealing their truck, as well as stealing a FedEx truck and breaking into other FedEx vehicles in the area.

Incident Details

The incident took place at the Peninsula Friends of Animals cat shelter located at milepost 257 on Highway 101 in Port Angeles. Deputies responded to a burglary at the shelter on Feb. 26 at approximately 6:22 a.m. Surveillance footage captured Kingsland arriving in a green Chevy Astro van, owned by the suspect.

Video evidence showed Kingsland entering the cat shelter, rummaging through cupboards, stealing syringes, and leaving behind a t-shirt. He then proceeded to steal a 1989 maroon Chevrolet truck registered to the shelter before fleeing the scene.

Further Escapades

Later that morning, at around 9:03 a.m., deputies were called to a FedEx warehouse on Easy Street in Port Angeles following the theft of a FedEx truck. Employees reported that an individual had tampered with the truck’s ignition, drove it around the area, and abandoned the vehicle at the scene. The internal dash cam of the truck identified Kingsland as the culprit.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Kingsland had also broken into other vehicles at the FedEx facility and made off with a box of cameras. Deputies have since gathered enough evidence to charge Kingsland with two counts of burglary, four counts of vehicle prowl, theft, malicious mischief, and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
