Rivers State Police Command Investigates Alleged Attempt to Sell Five-Year-Old Boy
The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into a disturbing incident where a woman, identified as Onyinye, allegedly attempted to sell her five-year-old son in Port Harcourt.
According to reports, the incident took place at a popular market located in Bishop Okoye Street in the Mile 3 area of Port Harcourt on Saturday. It was revealed that the woman’s actions sparked a commotion when some alert traders noticed her suspicious behaviour.
Witnesses at the scene expressed disbelief and concern as they questioned the woman’s motives for trying to sell her own child. The traders, sensing that something was amiss, decided to intervene and take the woman to the nearest police station to report the incident.
One of the traders who witnessed the event remarked, “The woman’s behaviour raised red flags for me, and I had a strong feeling that something was not right.”

Upon reaching out to the Rivers State Police Command for a statement, spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and assured the public that the matter is currently under investigation.
Grace Iringe-Koko stated, “The woman was apprehended by concerned individuals who alleged that she was attempting to sell her child at the market. Our team is diligently looking into the details of the case to validate the claims made by the eyewitnesses. At this moment, the woman remains in police custody.”
